In a move to alleviate financial burdens on specific sectors, the federal government has unveiled a plan to lower electricity costs for households using up to 300 units and agricultural tubewells. The announcement was made by the Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division), Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, on Wednesday.

The new policy involves a reduction in monthly fuel adjustment charges for these select groups. This adjustment was first removed for 300-unit household consumers back in June 2015 and for agricultural tubewells earlier in December 2010. To restore these benefits, the Power Division has submitted an official proposal to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

This initiative is designed to ease the economic strain on farmers and residential consumers with minimal electricity usage, facilitating better management of their financial resources. The anticipated reduction in electricity bills for these groups comes as a timely measure in response to escalating energy prices.
