Paying for a Pakistani passport just got easier. From 1 July 2026, Pakistan has rolled out a nationwide cashless passport fee system, letting applicants pay digitally instead of queuing at bank counters. Here is how the new system works, the payment methods available, and how to pay your passport fee online.
What has changed?
Announced by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the Directorate General of Immigration & Passports (DGI&P) has moved passport fee collection to digital, cashless channels through its “Passport Fee Asaan” system. Applicants generate a payment challan (PSID) and pay it through banking apps, mobile wallets or ATMs — no need to stand in line at a bank branch.
How to pay your passport fee online
- Open the Passport Fee Asaan app or the DGI&P e-Services portal.
- Calculate your passport fee and generate a PSID (payment challan).
- Pay the PSID through your preferred channel (see below).
- Keep the confirmation and proceed with your passport application/appointment.
Accepted payment methods
- Mobile wallets: JazzCash, Easypaisa
- Banking: Internet Banking, IBFT, ATM
- Aggregators: 1BILL, 1-Link member bank branches
- Over-the-counter at designated banks (e.g. National Bank of Pakistan)
Why it matters
- Saves hours previously spent queuing to pay fees.
- Improves transparency and helps reduce corruption in service delivery.
- Part of a wider digital overhaul (e-passports, online services).
