Amid escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, a surge of anti-state content and hate speech has surfaced on social media, particularly YouTube. Several bloggers, both in Pakistan and abroad, are allegedly spreading fake news and targeting Pakistan and its institutions.
PTA’s Efforts to Curb Illegal Content
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is actively working to suppress such content. However, its role is limited to blocking and removing illegal online material, while legal actions are handled by law enforcement agencies.
Blocked URLs and YouTube Channels
- Total URLs Blocked: 119,496 URLs for content threatening Pakistan’s security and national integrity.
- YouTube URLs Blocked: 3,248.

- Indian Channels Blocked: 68 Indian YouTube channels are no longer accessible in Pakistan.
- Pakistani YouTubers Blocked: Channels of Ahmad Noorani and Waqar Malik have been blocked locally, though some users report continued access.
Actions Against Specific Vloggers
The PTA is reviewing content from Pakistani vloggers Imran Riaz, Sabir Shakir, Siddique Jan, and Shahbaz Gill. Any actions will follow government directives. The PTA clarified it lacks authority to arrest or file legal cases, which is the responsibility of law enforcement.
